Yandex.Lavka is a Russian service for ordering groceries and household goods at home from local warehouses via a mobile application or website. Part of the foodtech direction Yandex.Taxi. As of July 2020, Yandex.Lavka operates in Moscow, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kazan. In November 2020, Yandex launched an analogue of Lavka under the Deli brand in Israel.
Yandex began developing its own express delivery service in March 2019. The founder of "Yandex" Arkady Volozh has already invested in a similar service, launched in 2015 Turkish Getir. The Yandex.Lavka project was headed by Russian journalist Ilya Krasilshchik. Work in test mode was carried out from April 30 in the Moscow district of Khamovniki, and the full launch of the project took place on June 10 of the same year. The next step was the opening of new outlets: in the first five months,34 warehouses, from February 2020 Yandex.Lavka appeared in St. Petersburg, from July 2020 - in Nizhny Novgorod, from April 1, 2021 - in Kazan. In 2020, a new application was created, which is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. In August 2021, Yandex.Lavka launched its own website with the ability to place an order online without having to install a mobile app. Previously, it was possible to order products from the desktop version of Yandex.Food, but not all application functions were available in it.
The Yandex.Chef service, which specializes in sending food kits with recipes (the so-called meal kits), in December 2019, instead of its own subscription, began distributing its kits using Yandex.Lavka.
Such kits include fresh products with recipes for self-cooking. As part of the cooperation between Yandex.Lavka and Yandex.Chef, the production of ready-made food was launched. Partners in this segment are also Azbuka Vkusa, Brothers Karavaev and Daily Bread.
Initially, Yandex.Lavka developed within the Yandex.Food service, then in February 2020 it was spun off into a separate area while maintaining the main partnerships. In May 2020, it became known about an experiment with an assortment of a more affordable price category. One of the largest retailers in Russia, Magnit, became a partner.
In July 2020, the creation of its own brand, Iz Lavka, was announced. To do this, Yandex.Lavka is going to cooperate with manufacturers and suppliers of consumer products such as bottled water, coffee, ice cream, eggs, cheese, dairy products, juices and fruit drinks, popcorn, nuts, granola and steaks. In addition, ready-made food is sold under this brand.
